DAYTON — The Dayton City Council voted Monday in a special-called meeting to allocate $73,000 to the Rhea Economic and Tourism Council (RETC).

RETC officials said in the meeting that those funds will be used for economic development and will be spent on funding fishing tournaments beginning in spring and lasting throughout the rest of the fiscal year. Dayton City Manager David Shinn said those funds were available and were already earmarked for economic development opportunities.

The Dayton City Council will meet next in a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 4, at around 6 p.m. at the Dayton Municipal Building, located at 399 First Avenue, Dayton, TN, 37321. The meeting is open to the public.
