DAYTON — Several groups are coming together to offer “Trauma and the Addicted Mind Training” on Thursday, May 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Rhea County Welcome Center.

The Rhea County Welcome Center is located at 107 Main Street, Dayton, TN, 37321.

Training will consist of learning why do people use, abuse and become addicted, how substance use impacts decision-making and self-control and what does the mind need to recover from substance use.

The session will also include addressing how trauma impact brain function, how survival mode affects daily choices and an overview for creating new neuropathways and making healthy choices.

The event is a joint effort among the Hamilton County Coalition, Rhea County Coalition, Blazing Hop Ranch and the state’s department of mental health and substance abuse services.
