    West Virginia man drowns at Daytona Beach

    DAYTONA BEACH, FL (WOWK) — A West Virginia man got caught in a rip current and drowned at Daytona Beach on Wednesday, according to reporting by CBS affiliate WKMG .

    Volusia County Beach Safety officials told WKMG the drowning happened around 2 p.m. near the Daytona Grande Oceanfront Hotel on North Atlantic Avenue. They said the man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    They reported the man, who has not been identified at this time, was visiting Daytona Beach. The beach is around 735 miles south of Charleston, West Virginia.

    Volusia County officials told WKMG lifeguards rescued 107 people on Wednesday.
