Daytona Beach sushi restaurant named among best in the U.S., according to Yelp

This beloved Daytona sushi restaurant was named among the best in the U.S., after being featured in Yelp’s “Top 100 Sushi Spots 2024.”

Yelp, an online hub for “user reviews and recommendations of best restaurants, shopping, nightlife, food ... and more,” recently released its yearly roundup of the nation’s most crave-able spots for fresh sushi, with Daytona Beach’s own Fancy Q Sushi & Thai earning a spot on the list.

The restaurant roundup features everything “from simple nigiri to beautifully decorated sushi rolls,” according to the recent Yelp release, and uses “a number of factors,” to rank each restaurant, “including the total volume and ratings of reviews.”

The Volusia restaurant, which boasts a 4.7-star rating on the online platform, placed 68th on the top 100 list, with fans praising the popular eatery for its fresh, flavorful menu variety, generous portion sizes and stellar service.

“This is our favorite place for fresh, reasonably priced and delicious sushi,” Yelp reviewer Marc W. wrote.

“Also, their pork tank katsu ramen is phenomenal. I have never had anything here that I did not fully enjoy and the service and pricing are on point. This is a hidden gem that I definitely recommend you check out!”

Fancy Q Sushi & Thai’s menu ranges from sushi bar entrees, a la carte sushi selections, and bento box dinners to Thai curry, hibachi plates, pad Thai and fancy sushi specials, like the HWY 17 Roll ($11.95) — smoked salmon, crab stick and cream cheese deep fried and topped with hot sauce, eel sauce and shrimp sauce; and the Tiger Roll ($13.95) — shrimp tempura, cucumber, spicy crab salad, seaweed salad, spicy mayo, fish eggs and eel sauce.

The “contemporary-casual” restaurant also offers an 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. lunch special Tuesday – Saturday, according to its website, as well as Japanese soda, Thai tea and various desserts.
