Accident in Deltona leaves motorcyclist dead

Volusia County sheriff's deputies said a 44-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a car in Deltona Monday night.

The accident occurred around 8:50 p.m. at Haulover Boulevard and Surf Drive, deputies said.

The Deltona man on his motorcycle was traveling on Haulover Boulevard and struck a car that had just turned onto Haulover Boulevard from Surf Drive, traffic homicide investigators said.

A deputy who arrived on scene attempted life-saving measures on the motorcyclist until Deltona fire paramedics arrived and took over.

The motorcyclist died at the scene at 8:57 p.m., investigators said.

A full crash investigation is being conducted, the sheriff's office said.
