A Port Orange woman was arrested for trying to run over her ex-boyfriend who had hopes of rekindling their relationship, police said.

Jamie Hale, 48, was charged with attempted felony murder, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cocaine. She was in the Volusia County Branch Jail Monday without bail.

Port Orange police said they were called to the Walmart store parking lot at 3811 Clyde Morris Blvd. at 7:31 p.m. on Friday where witnesses reported seeing Hale try to run over the man.

In an arrest report, the victim told police he had gone to Hale's home the day before and spent the night but she was acting strangely. He opted to leave and started to walk the following day to the Walmart to catch a ride, the arrest report states.

Hale followed and picked up the victim and they started arguing in the car because she didn't want him to leave, police said.

After arriving at the Walmart, the victim got out of the car with his belongings. Hale told him "I am going to murder you," and tried to run him over but the victim was able to jump out of the way. Hale then backed up at high speed, again trying to drive over the victim, the arrest report shows.

She then sped out of the parking lot.

In addition to reports from witnesses, Port Orange police reviewed Walmart's surveillance video which recorded the incident.
