One of Volusia County’s favorite breakfast spots announced its decision to close after 23 years on Ormond’s beachside.

Peach Valley Café announced the upcoming closure of the local chain’s Ormond East location over social media Tuesday. The local shop, Peach Valley Café’s original beachside location, sits at 185 E. Granada Blvd. and opened its doors in 2001, as previously reported by The News-Journal . However, it will permanently close after service on Labor Day, Sept. 2, according to a recent Facebook post.

The same post notes “loss of lease” as the reason for the closure.

“While we have had the great joy of serving you at this particular location for 23 years, this doesn't end the Peach Valley Café presence in our area,“ the Facebook post reads.

“We encourage you to visit our Ormond West location just three miles over the bridge where you will find the same smiling faces and delicious food you have come to enjoy over the years. Thank you for your love and loyalty.”

The breakfast haven, which offers everything from omelets and Benedicts to sandwiches, biscuits and gravy and buttermilk pancake options aplenty, was met with disbelief under its recent post from decades-loyal customers, some even referencing it as the “Cheers” of Ormond Beach.

“Sad to hear. Many memories there with family and friends,” user Danielle Coleman commented below the post.

“Ohhh no! That’s where me and my husband had our first date!” Stephanie Clemons chimed in.

“I’m deeply saddened by this news and I’m sure all of your employees and customers are also!” Priscilla Marie commented. “You are one of the best and busiest breakfast places in town! And we love going to that location.”

Peach Valley Café currently operates two other Volusia County locations, one in Port Orange and the other on Ormond’s west side, as well as several others across Florida.

Management at Peach Valley Café's Ormond East location declined to comment further on the closure.

Peach Valley Café’s Ormond West eatery is located at 1185 W. Granada Blvd. and is open 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. daily. For information, call 386-256-2501 or visit peachvalleycafe.com.
