A family took cover and called 911 yesterday when they noticed bullets "flying" into their home, which is located north of DeLand on Evergreen Terrace, according to a social media post from the Volusia Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived on scene, they evacuated adults and children from the home. No one was injured, according to the post.

The shooter was identified as Alex Kudlack, 38, an intoxicated neighbor on Virginia Avenue who was shooting at a tree in his backyard, the post said. He was charged with one count of shooting into a dwelling, one count of using a firearm while under the influence, two counts of child endangerment and one county of criminal mischief, according to the post.
