Temporary Fire Evacuation Shelter Open in Baker City
BAKER CITY – (Release from Baker County) Due to the various fires throughout Baker County, including the Durkee, Thompson and Coyote Fires, many areas have been under a Level 3 (GO NOW) evacuation. Level 3 is the most serious of evacuation levels and directs people to leave their homes immediately due to the extreme risk of danger. A Level 3 evacuation notification is not issued lightly, but with careful consideration of the circumstances and potential for loss of life.

Pocatello Car Club to hold drag races this weekend
POCATELLO — The Pocatello Car Club is set to host its first-ever street drag racing event this weekend near Pocatello Regional Airport. The event, called Outlaw Street Drags, will be held on Saturday and Sunday on Fortress Street northeast of the airport terminal. The event is free to attend for Pocatello Car Club members. Organizers are asking for a $5 donation from non-members. There will be a car show and food trucks at the event in addition to the drag races. ...

BOISE, Idaho — A young bull moose has been spotted in Southeast Boise, according to Float the Boise and Idaho Fish and Game. Float the Boise said while the moose doesn't directly pose a safety threat, area residents and river recreators should take precautions to avoid an encounter with the moose.
Boise teenager identified as victim of head-on crash
A 17-year-old Boise girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash that occurred last week near Star. Zuleyka Angulo was driving a 2011 Ford Focus that collided head-on with a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado on State Highway 44 on Thursday, July 19, at 8:40 p.m. west of Star in Canyon County. The Chevrolet, driven by a 30-year-old Middleton man, was headed westbound and crossed into the oncoming lane to pass a semi-truck when it collided with the Ford. Angulo died at the scene. Her two juvenile passengers were hospitalized, as was the driver of the Chevrolet.

The American Red Cross Cascades Region opened our first shelter in La Pine on June 25th due to the Darlene 3 Fire and we have not stopped since. We are currently operating in 4 different locations in our region plus we are helping support or neighboring Red Cross regions in Washington, Idaho and Montana.
