HAGERSTOWN, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A young Hagerstown student has some truly groundbreaking weekend plans — Gabby Tennor made her debut on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City on Friday.

She is a standout student at Grace Academy and landed a role as Baby Jesus on the stage of the Met. Gabby spent her week preparing.

No scripts to memorize which is great – just, as Gabby explains, “I don’t say anything because I’m supposed to play an infant but, I just like, I perform miracles and stuff.”

Gabby’s mom said performing has always been her daughter’s strong point.

“She loves to connect with people through performing. She started singing at church when she was five years old. She plays the drums. She plays the piano,” said Barbara Tennor.

Gabby said she loves the city lights of midtown Manhattan from her rehearsals.

“It’s always so beautiful, like, with the lights it’s like so unusual and unordinary, especially because they’re like purple and blue and yellow,” Gabby explained.

Are the bright lights of Broadway in Gabby’s future?

“I’m looking forward to her following her dreams if that’s what she wants to do. And I will be right behind her and support her 100 percent, so far as she is obedient, so far as she works hard in life, so far as she stays humble, I’ll be right by her side,” said Barbara Tennor with a smile.
