WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police in the District said they were searching for another dog that was taken over the weekend from a car in Southeast D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a woman left her dog and her purse in a car in the 1900 block of M Street Southeast just before 1 p.m. on July 13.

When she returned, both her purse and her two-year-old Shih Tzu, “Theo,” were missing.

MPD said Theo was last seen wearing a green collar with a bone-shaped dog tag. Photos of him can be seen below:

Burglars have targeted dogs – especially French Bulldogs – in recent months throughout the District. Just last week, an American Bully puppy was stolen at gunpoint from her owner in Southeast D.C.

Days before that, a stolen French Bulldog was reunited with his owner after he, too, was taken at gunpoint in Southeast D.C.

Anyone with information as to where Theo might be or who took him is asked to call MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible.
