FREDERICK, Md. ( DC News Now ) — In a matter of a few months, Frederick will be getting their very first pickleball facility.

Kaylin Corsiatto, owner of Dill Dinkers Frederick, and her family first got into pickleball during COVID-19 but soon realized places to play inside during less-than-ideal weather were limited.

“There’s not many indoor places to play and the places that you can play indoors aren’t dedicated facilities,” Corsiatto said. “We decided to take a look into what options there were and we found Dill Dinkers and they were franchising and from there, the rest is history.”

Along with seven open courts for people to play on, the facility will also offer instructed programs for every type of player.

“It’s nice to have all the pickleball players come in at once and be able to get them playing within half an hour and get them comfortable with those rules, versus, friends meeting up at a park and figuring out what’s going on,” Director of Dill Dinkers, Kiersten Pappas said.

Michael Ortman travels to places like Rockville and Bethesda to play pickleball but he said that a new facility closer to home would give him even more options to choose from.

“It gives us an opportunity to go the other direction against the traffic, which is great,” Ortman said. “I hopped on I-270 this morning and I was here in 20 minutes, so it was great to have that convenient option for us.”

The Dill Dinkers Frederick Pickleball facility will have its soft opening in October.

“We want this to be a place where people can hang out, people can relax, people can play pickleball, meet new friends, and just be a part of the community,” Corsiatto said.
