HAGERSTOWN, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Maryland Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller made a visit to Hagerstown before the week came to a close.

She was joined by city leaders for a ribbon cutting on the new downtown parking deck on Antietam Street, adjacent to the city’s just-built downtown baseball stadium, Meritus Park.

The parking facility was completed at $12.8 million and will accommodate close to 400 vehicles.

But city leaders see the project as serving more than just patrons at the ballpark.

“This will serves the folks who are coming to the ball game, the folks coming downtown to have dinner, the folks coming to town to shop, the folks coming to live here and the folks coming to work,” Councilman Peter Perini, Sr. said. “It’s all great.”

Included in the total project cost is $1.2 million for land acquisition.
