    Burglar arrested after spotted entering business with sledgehammer in Silver Spring, police say

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) said that officers arrested a commercial burglar after someone saw him entering an office building with a sledgehammer in Silver Spring.

    In a post on the X platform posted on Saturday, MCPD District 3 commander Jason Cokinos said a person called 911 reporting a strange person with a sledgehammer entering an office building in the 8700 Block of Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring.

    According to Cokinos, 3rd District officers, K9 and the department’s drone ( Raven 1 ) responded to the scene. When police arrived, the suspect had already smashed the glass of a business and was inside.

    K9 Beno took the suspect into custody. Police said they would book the suspect on felony charges after processing.

    “You know the saying… ‘if you see something, say something.’ Well… it DOES help!” said Cokinos.
