UNIVERSITY PARK (Nittany Nation) — As Penn State moves into the midpoint of fall camp, “growth” was the keyword from offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki on Tuesday.

“I’ve commented before about how I just care that our guys are getting better every day, and that is evident,” he said Tuesday. “We are definitely a better football team.”

One of those players who’s coming a long way is second-string quarterback Beau Pribula.

“This is my third fall camp, so it should be my best camp and I should be the most confident,” Pribula said. “And that’s really how I feel.”

Drew Allar’s sophomore understudy has been a fan favorite for his striking similarities to another former Nittany Lion who wore number 9, Trace McSorley. He called this camp his best yet and said he’s here to push and better his teammates.

Three safety look may be key to Tom Allen’s Penn State defense

“I’m always going to continue to push every quarterback there is as well as I expect them to do the same. To me, iron sharpens iron. We only want to make each other better, not just on the field making plays, but also when we’re in meetings. I’m just trying to, you know, just push each other every day. And that’s really where it stems from.”

“It’s been cool to watch his progression as a passer and obviously he’s an elite playmaker with his feet, so it’s been cool to watch,” Allar said.

Pribula’s mobility was utilized situationally in 2023. Last year he rushed for 329 yards and six touchdowns, he threw for four as well. His skill set is tailor-made for the Andy Kotelnicki offense we saw at Kansas. Beau suggests some of that is trickling into the Nittany Lion scheme as well.

“I think Coach K’s offense lets me do a lot of the things that I’m good at because of just different things that you can do,” Pribula said. “And I think that’s true for everybody. Every position on the team. That’s something that he stresses is putting his best players in the best positions for them to win.”
