    MSP pleads for community’s help in deadly shooting of 10-year-old, increases reward to $25K

    SALISBURY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Maryland State Police (MSP) have released the name of the 10-year-old boy who was killed after someone started shooting into his home in Salisbury on Aug. 5.

    State police identified the boy as Tyron Colbert.

    On Monday, Aug. 5, around 10:30 p.m., police officers with the Salisbury Police Department and medics responded to the 200 block of Clayton Street after receiving a 911 call that shots were fired into a house. There, officers located Tyron, who had been shot.

    He was taken to the hospital where he died.

    Police believed Tyron was home with his mom and two other siblings with the shooting happened.

    More than a week later, investigators are still working to learn what led to the deadly shooting and are asking for the community’s help to solve the case.

    “You can remain anonymous, we can take any kind of tips and leads even if it is something small, please reach out and help the community, help the police department, help Maryland State Police…and more importantly Tyron Colbert’s family as they are going through this tough time,” said Lt. Kyle Clark the Commander of the Homicide Unit of the MSP.

    In a joint release on Aug. 9 , authorities announced the reward increased to up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

    “Law enforcement needs your help to do justice in this case. Your information is necessary,” added Jamie Dykes , the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County.
