RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Run Richmond, a race event which includes a 16.19k run and 6.19k run and walk, is returning to the city on Sept. 21.

The event, which is organized by Sports Backers, the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia and the Djimon Hounsou Foundation, will teach participants about more than 400 years of Black history.

“Our vision for RUN RICHMOND 16.19 is to commemorate the sacrifices and achievements our African American brothers & sisters have made to our nation and celebrate Unity in Diversity,” said Djimon Hounsou, Oscar-nominated actor and founder of the Djimon Hounsou Foundation.
