    Woodbridge man charged in connection to fatal July crash

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) announced Wednesday they charged a man for his involvement in a fatal crash that happened about a month ago in Clifton.

    FCPD said 21-year-old Mukeh Banya was driving a 2003 Honda Accord on Old Yates Ford Road at about 10 a.m. on July 13 when he lost control and crossed over the double yellow line.

    A 2019 Volkswagen Atlas driving in the opposite direction struck his car on the passenger side.

    Banya was not hurt, but his passenger – 22-year-old Jack Gumm of Manassas – was medevacked to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    He died at the hospital two days later.

    The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    A month after the crash, Banya was charged with Failure to Maintain Proper Control. He was served a summons and release, FCPD said.

    FCPD asked that anyone with any information call 1-866-411-TIPS or submit a tip online.
