    ( KTLA ) – A father-son duo will be hosting the 76th annual Emmys.

On Friday, ABC and the Television Academy confirmed that Eugene Levy and his son Dan Levy, who created and starred together on the Emmy Award-winning comedy series “Schitt’s Creek,” have been set to helm this year’s ceremony in September.

It’s the first time a father and son will handle hosting duties for the awards show, according to ABC and the Television Academy.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” both men said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.”

The Levys each have four Emmys themselves. Eugene Levy won two for “Schitt’s Creek” and “SCTV,” while his son has taken home four for his work on “Schitt’s Creek.”

In 2020, the Levys made history for being the first father and son to win Emmys in the same year. Eugene Levy won for Outstanding Comedy Actor, and Dan Levy won for Supporting Comedy Actor as well as Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. That same year, “Schitt’s Creek” took home the award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” said Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”

The Emmys will air live on ABC on Sept. 15 from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
