Countdown to Kickoff: Tuscarora Huskies

LEESBURG, Va. (DC News Now) — In 2023, the Tuscarora Huskies went 12-1, losing their final game of the season in the state semifinals to Salem 31-21.

It was the first region title win under head coach Jared Toler. Now heading into his third season, Toler’s approach to having team success is the same.

“The mantra is always going to be band of brothers,” said Toler. “When you are willing to do something for someone else, and you are willing to celebrate other people’s success, I think that’s what builds a program and a culture.”

The motto “band of brothers” has been a staple for this team under coach Toler, including last year’s undefeated regular season and 4C region title run.

“The bond is very tight,” said senior wide receiver/safety Bryce Huber. “We all played together last year. We played together as kids. It’s a brotherhood. We are always together.”

“From freshman year, it’s been a tight bond,” said senior quarterback Bernardo Rivera. “Now we are all seniors. That bond has never been as tight.”

Tuscarora will kick off their 2024 regular season schedule on Thursday, August 29 on the road against Heritage.
