( WSPA ) – BMW issued a recall for more than 720,000 cars last week.

On Aug.13, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted a recall notice which included popular BMW models including the X-series cars, as well as other models.

According to the recall notice, the water pumps used in the vehicles have “insufficient sealing,” which could over time allow fluid into the electrical plug connectors, creating a potential for short circuits and in some cases, fire.

Vehicles impacted by the recall can be inspected and, if necessary, a shield can be installed to prevent fluid from dropping into the plug connector.

Owners of vehicles impacted by the recall should receive a letter notifying them of the recall and instructions to take their vehicle to a BMW center for free inspection and repair.
