“Kids are messy, when they do crafts it gets everywhere. We wanted to make sure we created a space where parents would feel okay about their kids making a mess,” said Odendahl.

Merry Pin also has special events for kids to explore their creativity and imagination. One of the events is called “Crafty Tales,” which happens every Saturday morning.

“We read a story about an artist and then have a themed activity along with that,” said Odendahl.

Odendahl told DC News Now that she loves seeing people discover a hobby they love.

“My favorite part is to see the creativity of people who come in, people who are doing something just for the love of it and having a good time,” said Odendahl.
