    18-year-old arrested for Southeast DC shooting, police say

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said officers arrested an 18-year-old for a shooting that happened Tuesday night in Southeast D.C.

    Just after 8 p.m., police said a woman was getting out of her car in the 200 block of 37th Place SE when she was shot. She fled the scene and flagged down an officer for help.

    DC Fire and EMS treated her at the scene for minor injuries.

    On Wednesday, MPD arrested 18-year-old Mekhi Wilkins of Northwest D.C.

    Wilkins was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
