    PHOTOS: Vehicle overturns, catches fire on I-66 West in Fairfax County

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Traffic was backed on I-66 West after a vehicle went up in flames in Fairfax County on Friday morning.

    According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the vehicle caught fire on the interstate around mile marker 64.8 near Idylwood Park.

    On Friday morning, traffic was at a standstill as multiple first responders worked to contain the blaze.

    Pictures from the scene, show the vehicle overturned and engulfed in flames. Smoke could also be seen billowing from the area.

    As of 9:07 a.m., VDOT said traffic was backed up for nearly two miles and all westbound lanes were closed.

    Drivers can expect major delays in this area and are encouraged to find alternative routes.

    At this time, it is unclear if anyone was hurt.
