    DC firefighter injured after apartment building fire in Southeast

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The DC Fire and EMS Department said a firefighter was taken to the hospital after battling a fire at an apartment building in Southeast early Monday morning.

    In a post on X at 2:40 a.m., officials were dispatched to a box alarm in the 400 block of Valley Ave. There, crews found flames coming from the roof of a three-story apartment building.

    As crews worked on the scene, firefighters discovered the fire in the attic.

    According to the fire department, units stayed on the scene for over an hour until they contained the blaze.

    Officials said residents were not injured, but a firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of a minor injury.

    The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
