Woman hospitalized after shooting in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police in D.C. said a woman was taken to the hospital after she was shot in Southeast on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) told DC News Now that just before 12:30 p.m., officers were notified of a shooting in the 4500 block of Texas Ave.

Once on the scene, police found a woman with a gunshot wound, conscious and breathing.

Police said she was taken to the hospital for treatment, but her condition is unknown as of Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting remains under investigation.
