    DC man arrested for Southeast shooting, police say

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it arrested a man in connection to a shooting that happened last month in Southeast D.C.

    At about 6:50 p.m. on July 24, MPD responded to the 1800 block of Marion Barry Avenue SE for the report of a traffic crash. There, they found a man who had been shot and had crashed his car into a retaining wall.

    First responders took him to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

    MPD said 21-year-old Demarco Hayes of Southeast D.C. was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill while Armed on Aug. 28.
