PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Court documents that DC News Now obtained Wednesday gave a more in-depth look into the investigation that led to an elementary school teacher being arrested for child pornography and other charges.

Officers with the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) arrested and charged 44-year-old Mark Cobb of Bowie on Monday. His attorney waived Wednesday’s bail hearing at Prince George’s County Circuit Court.

Charging documents said that Cobb, a teacher at Cooper Lane Elementary School, solicited sexually explicit photographs from a 9-year-old girl whom he was teaching at the time.

Documents said the girl told investigators she would chat with Cobb via text and on the game Roblox. She said that he sent explicit messages implying that he wanted to engage in sexual acts with her and asked for explicit photographs, which she sent to him.

Investigators interviewed Cobb on Monday, the same day that he was arrested. During the interview, Cobb waived his right to an attorney and confirmed the exchanges between himself and the girl, documents said.

Police executed a search warrant that same day. Officers found electronics with “several hundred files depicting child pornography” and a bag containing several individually packaged pairs of children’s underwear, some of which seemed to have been worn, documents said.

“The facts of this case are unimaginable,” said State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County Aisha Braveboy.

“I just can’t imagine how sick a person has to be to have, this type of conversation of – a very sexually explicit conversation with a nine-year-old,” she continued.

The Prince George’s County Public School District declined to say if Cobb is still employed. It did say, however, that counselors are available for students and parents if needed.

Police said that as of Tuesday, they had not identified any other victims at the school.

Anyone with any information should call 301-772-4930 to speak with Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit detectives.

Cobb faces up to 25 years in prison if he’s convicted.
