Motorcade accompanying Walz involved in car crash in Wisconsin

( The Hill ) — Cars carrying members of the press in Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s motorcade crashed on Monday as the Democratic vice presidential nominee was headed to a campaign event in Milwaukee.

A staff member in a press van appeared to have a broken arm, according to a pool reporter traveling with the governor, after the vehicle was “violently thrown forward” as vehicles collided.

Walz’s car was reportedly not involved in the pileup, and continued on toward the scheduled campaign event.

Vice President Harris’s newly minted running mate kicked off the Labor Day holiday by meeting with local leaders in Minnesota. His motorcade was traveling to Wisconsin, where he is scheduled to deliver remarks at the Milwaukee Area Labor Council’s Labor Fest.

Other reporters traveling with the governor reportedly suffered scrapes and bruises, and another was feared to have a concussion. The Hill has reached out to the campaign for further details.

After the stoppage, reporters and staffers were then loaded into new vans, and continued en route to the Walz event, according to the pool. The cause of the crash was unclear.

As Walz visits Milwaukee, Harris is set to participate in a campaign event with President Biden in Pittsburgh, Penn.
