WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — DC Fire and EMS (DCFD) crews were at the scene of a working fire in Southeast D.C. on Wednesday afternoon.

In a post made on X just before 3:10 p.m., the department said the incident was in the 5000 block of Kimi Gray Court. There, a “heavy fire” broke out in the rear of a two-story rowhouse.

12-year-old boy accused of stealing car after multiple break-ins at Montgomery County dealerships, police say

It had extended into the second floor and attic and extended to the nearby homes.

By 3:23 p.m., firefighters had extinguished all of the visible fire, but were still working on hotspots. No one was hurt, but 12 people were displaced – six of whom were adults, and six were children.

Based on video from the scene, it was clear that the fire had blackened the entire outside of the home, starkly contrasting the white and red of the neighboring homes.
