MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) announced Friday that a grand jury indicted a Silver Spring man on charges in connection to a deadly crash that happened in April 2023.

Police said on Sept. 3, 34-year-old Kenneth R. McFadden Baldwin was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for negligent manslaughter by vehicle – gross negligence and criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle.

On April 28, 2023, around 2 a.m., Montgomery County police officers and EMS personnel were called to Wightman Road at Aspenwood Lane, in Gaithersburg, for a crash involving a 2017 Ford F-450 tow truck and Nissan Versa.

MCPD said their investigation revealed that McFadden Baldwin was driving the tow truck on Wightman Road when he slammed into the Nissan, which was trying to make a left turn onto Aspenwood Lane.

The driver of the Nissan, 51-year-old Juan Antonio Lamas Salcido, of Gaithersburg, died at the scene.

As the investigation developed, police discovered that McFadden Baldwin was allegedly going at least 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

He was released from the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on an unsecured personal bond.
