    Several Frederick County schools test positive for PFAs in drinking water

    FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Drinking water in eight different Frederick County Schools was found to be contaminated with forever chemicals.

    Frederick County Public Schools said it is taking precautions to keep students and staff safe to reduce exposure.

    Some schools have turned off all water fixtures like water fountains and have provided purified water or bottles of water.

    The health of schoolchildren is very important to us, which is why the state has a robust early sampling and response system to isolate drinking water sources and see that bottled water is provided when high levels of these contaminants are present. We will continue to work in partnership with other agencies and local governments on testing, fixing problems, and helping to fund the needed improvements.

    • Green Valley Elementary School
    • Liberty Elementary School
    • Valley Elementary School
    • Lewistown Elementary School
    • Kemptown Elementary School
    • Wolfsville Elementary School
    • New Midway Elementary School

    I hope they get this fixed. I'm glad that Brunswick High School is not affected.
