    Montgomery County police: WSSC Water employee hit, killed by intoxicated driver

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A man who was struck and killed by a car in Montgomery County early Sunday morning has been identified as a Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) employee, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).

    MCPD said that around 4:40 a.m., officers and Montgomery County fire rescue personnel responded to the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Rodney Road for the report of a pedestrian collision.

    The investigation revealed that the pedestrian, who has since been identified as 39-year-old Ernest Joseph Dyson of Clinton, was working when an intoxicated driver of a black 2011 Volkswagen CC traveling southbound on New Hampshire Avenue struck him.

    According to the police, Dyson was a WSSC Water employee and was on the job when he was hit.

    DC News Now reached out to WSSC Water for comment but had not yet heard back as of Monday afternoon.

    The investigation is ongoing. Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620.
