Man charged with murder in connection to sister’s death in Bethesda

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said a man was taken into custody after a woman was found dead in Bethesda on Monday night.

On Sept. 9, shortly before 11 p.m., MCPD said police officers and EMS personnel were called to the 10500 block of Westlake Drive for a report of a domestic-related incident.

Officers found 37-year-old Shanon Marie Barnett inside. They rushed in to give her medical aid, but she was already dead when they got there.

MCPD arrested her brother, 30-year-old Devon Miller of Indianapolis, In., and charged him with homicide. He was held without bond.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
