STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said a snake had to be detained after it made its way inside the Sheriff’s Office early Monday morning.

The “trespasser,” a non-venomous juvenile black racer snake, was discovered at around 5:45 a.m. SCSO said the snake “breached the security of the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building” and had “illegally” found its way into the Sheriff’s Office locker room.

SCSO said in a Facebook post that the snake — which they named “Chuck Norhiss” — was “detained” and escorted from the building.

One Facebook user commented that the snake needed to have a mugshot taken while another user said to “Charge him with unlawful entry!”

“No bond?” another Facebook user commented.

The snake was released behind the Sheriff’s Office in a wooded area, despite one Facebook user suggesting it be made the “Station Snake.”
