    Fire at high-rise apartment building in Bethesda leaves several displaced, caused about $1.5M in damages

    BETHESDA, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Officials said more than 90 firefighters were on the scene after a fire broke out in a high-rise apartment building in Bethesda late Tuesday night.

    Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and EMS Department said around 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 10, crews were dispatched to the 5200 block of Pooks Hill for a fire at the Promenade Towers.

    There, crews found heavy smoke and flames on the sixth floor.

    First responders quickly extinguished the blaze and there were no reported injuries.

    Investigators determined the fire originated in a hallway closet and was accidental by nature, according to Piringer.

    Officials said the fire caused about $1.5 million in damages.
