    Police identify man killed in shooting near Benning Road Metro Station

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police in D.C. have released the name of a man who died after he was shot near the Benning Road Metro Station on Tuesday.

    The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that shortly after 7 p.m. officers were called to a shooting in the 4500 block of Benning Road Southeast, near the Metro station.

    Once on the scene, police officers found 33-year-old Jonathan Jackson of Southeast, who had been shot.

    Medics took Jackson to the hospital, where staff tried to save him, but he died.

    At this time, no arrests have been made, and the motive for the shooting is unknown.

    MPD encourages anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous text 50411.

    Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
