    Police: Two men pleaded guilty after stealing 50 guns from Springfield store

    SPRINGFIELD, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A Maryland man and a District man have pleaded guilty after stealing 50 guns from a store in Virginia.

    On April 29, 2023, 22-year-old Victor Jones of D.C. and 22-year-old Cedric Minger of Brandywine, Md., as well as two other people, drove a stolen Acura ILX from Washington to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer in Springfield, Va., to break in and steal guns, according to court documents.

    They first attempted to get in by shooting at the door with a gun but were unsuccessful.

    Minger was then able to get in through an opening at the top of the doorframe.

    Once inside, Minger grabbed guns from the store and passed them through the door to Jones and the other three people, who then put them in the car.

    Jones, Minger and the two other people then took the stolen guns to D.C. and later started selling them.

    One of the stolen guns was recovered from a student at an elementary school.

    Jones and Minger pleaded guilty on June 20 to conspiracy to steal firearms from a FFL and stealing firearms from a FFL.

    On Sept. 4, Jones was sentenced to nine years in prison.

    Minger was sentenced on Wednesday to nine years and six months in prison.
