    Maryland man arrested for fatal shooting in Northeast DC

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police arrested a man from Maryland who was involved in fatally shooting another man in Northeast Monday.

    The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said 32-year-old Bryant Nelson of Temple Hills, Md. was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly shot and killed 46-year-old Townsend Reginald Sowell , of Northeast D.C.

    The shooting happened early Monday morning at around 1:20 a.m. in the 2800 block of 7th Street.

    There, officers found Sowell suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

    Nelson was charged with first-degree murder while armed (premeditated.)
