    DC, Berkeley County men sentenced to prison for gun violations

    MARTINSBURG, W.Va. ( DC News Now ) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia said a D.C. man and a Berkeley County man were sentenced to prison for firearm violations.

    Officials said 32-year-old Kevin Nicholas Munroe of Martinsburg, West Virginia was sentenced to five years in prison for the unlawful possession of a firearm and interstate violation of a protection order.

    Court documents revealed West Virginia State Police (WVSP) was investigating a shooting that led officers to Munroe, who had an active domestic violence protective order against him that was filed in Los Angeles.

    Munroe, who is not allowed guns, was found in Martinsburg and had a .45 caliber revolver.

    After serving his prison sentence, Munroe will serve three years of supervised probation.

    WVSP said 52-year-old Mario Adonte Crawley of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for the unlawful possession of a firearm.

    Police searched Crawley’s car during a traffic stop in Kearneysville, West Virginia, and found a 9mm loaded handgun, according to court documents and statements.

    Crawley is not allowed to have guns because of prior convictions of assault, obstructing justice, and armed robbery in Virginia and the D.C.

    After serving his sentence, Crawley will serve three years of supervised release.
