    Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Springfield

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Fairfax County police said Franconia Road in Springfield is shut down after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run on Friday morning.

    In a post on X just before 7 a.m., the Fairfax County Police Department said the crash happened at Franconia Road and Elder Avenue.

    According to the police, the man who was hit died at the scene.

    Man injured following shooting in Germantown, MCPD investigating

    Police said the driver of the vehicle ran from the crash site and was not in custody, as of Friday morning.

    As of 7:44 a.m., Franconia Road was closed in both directions as police officers continued their investigation.

    Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

    one side of Franconia Road where the school is, driving is at a low speed. the other parts of Franconia Road people go way too fast. I don't know what they could have done to prevent this other than parking police up and down Franconia Road. this should not have happened. so sorry for the family's loss.
