    DC police identify man killed in shooting near Dupont Circle

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police in D.C. have released the name of the man who was killed in a shooting near Dupont Circle early Monday morning.

    In an update, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) identified the victim as 35-year-old Ifeanyi Maximus, of Bladensburg, MD.

    Police said shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 16, officers were called to the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue for a shooting.

    There, they found Maximus suffering from a gunshot wound and unconscious.

    He died at the scene.

    This case remains under investigation and no arrests have been made, as of Tuesday.

    Anyone with information about what led to the shooting is encouraged to call police at 202-727-9099 or text 50411. MPD is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
