    Man charged after allegedly stabbing woman sitting on bench outside Friendship Heights Metro Station

    CHEVY CHASE, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police said a man from D.C. is facing several charges, incl uding attempted murder after he stabbed a woman who was sitting on a bench outside the Friendship Heights Metro Station.

    According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), around 9:20 a.m. on Sept. 16, several officers, including D.C. police, were called to 2 Wisconsin Circle in the Chevy Chase area for a report of a stabbing.

    There, officers found a 66-year-old woman with stab wounds to her upper body.

    She was taken to hospital in critical condition.

    The investigation revealed that the woman was sitting on a bench when a man, identified as 39-year-old Marcus Dwayne Jackson, stabbed her and then ran toward D.C.

    Police said a good samaritan who witnessed the incident immediately called 911 and followed Jackson to Connecticut and Western Avenues.

    There, D.C. police officers took Jackson into custody.

    Detectives with the MCPD obtained an arrest warrant for Jackson, charging him with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

    He was taken to a detention center in D.C., where he was awaiting extradition back to Montgomery County.
