HAGERSTOWN, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police said three 18-year-olds were arrested and charged in connection to a shooting incident near a CVS in Hagerstown on Monday.

The Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) said on Sept. 16, just after 7 p.m., officers responded to the area of 34 North Cannon Ave. for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they came in contact with three suspects who began running. During the foot chase, Hagerstown police caught two suspects, Micah Curtis, 18, and Davon Alfonzo Griffin, 18, near South Mulberry Street.

During this time, police said officers also found two handguns that Curtis and Griffin allegedly discarded while running from the police. Officers also identified two victims from the shooting and learned that gunfire had struck their vehicle.

As the investigation continued, HPD executed a search warrant at 14 South Mulberry Street on Sept. 17, and took Franck Diffo-Simmo, 18, of Hagerstown, into custody.

Curtis, Griffin, and Diffo-Simmo were all charged with attempted murder and various handgun violations. As of Tuesday, the trio was awaiting an initial appearance at the Washington County Detention Center.

“Thanks to the swift actions of responding officers and the investigators for putting this case together, 3 people have been charged and handguns were taken off the streets,” said the HPD in a post on social media.

    The shooting remains under investigation.
