FCSO: Deputies locate man who entered Urbana High School, assaulted staff member

UPDATE : The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office identified the man and he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Criminal charges against him are pending.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said deputies are looking for a “suspicious man” who entered Urbana High School and assaulted a staff member on Tuesday.

According to FCSO, at around 11 a.m., the man entered the high school through an outside door.

A staff member noticed the man inside the school and escorted him out. As the employee was closing the door, the suspect assaulted him before running off of the campus, according to the sheriff’s office.

No students or other staff were harmed.

The school resource officer was immediately contacted and began investigating.

As a result, deputies will be in the Urbana area for school dismissal on Tuesday.
