“This incident is a stark reminder of the danger our officers face, even in the most routine situations,” said Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney in a statement on Friday. “Let me be clear: the individual responsible for this senseless act will be brought to justice and held fully accountable. I wish the officer involved a speedy recovery from this incident, and a heartfelt thank you for working to keep our community safe.”
