Police investigating murder-suicide after Dumfries couple found dead in home

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — It’s been more than a month since two people were found dead inside a home in Dumfries. Now, Prince William County police have released new details about their investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, on Aug. 7 just before 10 p.m., officers were called to the 1900 block of Fort Monroe Court to investigate a death.

When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Ashleigh Kaylynn Cash and 33-year-old Davaughn Jamaal Henderson dead with gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation revealed that a friend had gone to the home and contacted police after finding the two dead.

As the investigation continued, Prince William County police learned that Cash and Henderson were involved in a relationship and the shooting was domestic-related.

In an update on Sept. 23, investigators said they believe that an altercation escalated between Cash and Henderson. That’s when Henderson shot Cash before turning the gun on himself, according to police.

PWCPD said investigators recovered a gun at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
