PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — On Wednesday, students at Suitland Elementary School will have the chance to get a brand-new pair of shoes for free.

Soles4Souls, the global nonprofit “committed to turning shoes and clothing into opportunity,” is partnering with Prince George’s County Public Schools to provide free shoes at the “Soles4theDistrict” distribution event.

The giveaway is a part of the Nashville-based nonprofit’s 4Everykid initiative, which provides new athletic shoes to students experiencing homelessness across the United States.

What is a National Blue Ribbon School?

Soles4TheDistrict is a fundraising campaign that works to provide over 10,000 kids experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia with new shoes for the upcoming school year.

“While not all students Suitland Elementary are ‘experiencing homelessness’ as defined by the 4EveryKid program, Soles4Souls and school administrators believe it’s best to serve all students in the school for this fun, unique event,” said a Soles4TheDistrict press release.

The event will be held at Suitland Elementary School from 8 a.m. until noon.
