Mother accused of shooting daughter to face judge in Prince George’s County

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A Prince George’s County mother, who is being accused of shooting her teenage daughter, is set to face a judge for a bail hearing on Wednesday afternoon.

The Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to the mother’s home on Monday at the 500 block of 69th Place.

That’s where officers found her 13-year-old daughter suffering from gunshot wounds.

The teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers said Brown gave multiple different stories about how her daughter was shot, including that the teen was shot on her way home from school.

Talecka Brown, 32, is accused of shooting her 13-year-old daughter in the upper body.

Brown faces several charges including first-degree murder.

The acting SPPD Chief Cedrick Heyward called the shooting tragic saying it is “heart-wrenching when the perpetrator is supposed to be your protector.”

Heyward said he is worried about the teen’s emotional trauma from this going forward.

He vowed to hold Brown accountable for her actions.
