    65-year-old man arrested in connection to two burglaries in Bethesda, police say

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) said a 65-year-old man was arrested in connection to two burglaries in Bethesda on Sept. 11.

    Police said that just after 2 p.m., a man received an alert on his phone and saw the suspect trying to break into his home, which was empty at the time.

    The man then called the police and provided them with information about the suspect.

    When offices arrived, they saw a broken window at the home, and the suspect walking away from the house.

    Officers chased after the suspect before eventually arresting him.

    Police determined that the suspect broke into the house and stole items and money.

    Not soon after, another man who lives on Brookes Lane approached police and told them that some items as well as money were stolen from his house.

    Officers found the items and money inside the suspect’s car and determined that the suspect had also broken into the man’s home and money and some items.

    Police identified the man as 65-year-old Gregory Jerome Stamps, of Manassas, Virginia.

    He was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, resisting arrest and malicious destruction of property.

    Stamps is being held without bond.
